Family As You Go is a way for you to come along with me and my family on our journey through life. My husband Justin and I want to raise our children to know that Jesus is their Lord and Savior, that they can create healthy and delicious food for every meal, that simplicity and gratefulness are key to a fulfilling life, that everyone needs respect and kindness, and that family and community are one of the most greatest gifts God has given to us.
Here’s a little bit about me: My name is Bree Meissner. I hail from the Buchanan family, many of whom have an extremely artsy and unconventional way of living. Ever since I went through a natural pregnancy and labor, I have this new found love and desire to study and learn all things natural and healthy for an optimal pregnancy and birth for the ultimate health of mama and baby. From absorbing as much knowledge from people, books, and online resources, I want to help others and myself create healthy and thriving families. Besides that, I enjoy learning all things fermentation, painting with either oil or water colors, anything that involves the outdoors and getting dirty, using herbs for healing and cooking, learning homeopathy, and getting back to simple ingredients and a simple way of life.
I married the love of my life, on April 23, 2014. Shortly after (just a mere 5 months later) we found out I was expecting! We welcomed the sweetest gift from God, our little boy Cedric Christopher, on June 2, 2015. Gratefully my prayers were answered and I was able to quit my fun job at Trader Joe’s and transition into being a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom). Just this year we welcomed our second bundle of joy, our sweet Finley Grace on July 18, 2017 (which happens to be my birthday too!).
Justin has traveled all over the world (most of which before he was 5). He has always taken a liking to the dramatic and comedic. The best way to see what he is like is to see him perform. He comes from a creative writing family, and loves a good debate. If he doesn’t understand something, be sure that the next day he will be an “expert”. Justin works as a personal trainer and is also working toward a teaching career along his training.
